The Fountainhead

Well, after talking to Mark and Keith about The Fountainhead, I am cautiously anxious about starting to read it. I plan to finish Blood in Flowers first and then start. Mom, you would like this book. I found it at a bookstore with the advertisement, "If you liked the Kite Runner, try this" It is set in Persia and good so far. I'll keep ya posted. When Keith and I get a schedule together for The Fountainhead, I'll post it for anyone who wants to read it with us.

If I wasn't so burnt out on Ms. Rand I'd read The Fountainhead along with you two but I just can't. I need some brain candy fluff novel that will make me giggle.

Still waiting for the book to arrive. AAAAGGGGH. I was in Louisville last night on an unplanned trip where I could have purchased the book. It should arrive today or Monday. Don't leave me too far behind!!!!!!

OK.....I'm reading. A little slow so far, but when I can only get in about 2/3 of a page at night before falling asleep, it's tough to get involved in anything.

Two characters so far....Roark and Keating are bizarre and total contrasts. Keith, set a schedule for me. I know I am pretty far behind, so let me know where you are so I can try to catch up.

Henry Cameron is the strangest of them all. What a nut.

I need some encouragement here...... These architect types are rather boring.

I'm so excited that you are both reading this book. By the end of the book I found myself labeling people I knew after certain characters. He's a "Roark" or She's a "Keating." I found myself judging people unfairly. I thought all the characters to be loathesome after a while but some were also very inspiring. The book made me think about what it is that motivates me. I hope you enjoy it. I certainly did.

I just finished a book by Augestin Burroghs called Possible Side Effects. Hilarious.

The characters are beginning to come to life for me. It is a slow process. I am about to meet Francon's daughter. Based on Francon's reaction every time she is mentioned, I'm sure she is going to be a joy. I feel like I am a bizarre mixture of Roark and Keaton. The older I get, the less I care about what other people think. It is one of the few bright spots of old age. Going to read now!

Julie, I'm slightly obsessed with being "Dominique", used more as an adjective than a noun. She has such wit and irreverence, but its so "acceptable" in her simply because of her status. Its such a recurring theme in the book. I love it. Keep going. The characters round out so much that the story begins to take a back seat.

I am on the cusp of meeting her. Crazy week at the Webb house so not much reading is taking place. I plan to hit it hard tonight.
Thanks for the post. It definately motivates me to keep going.

I'm through page 175. Starting to enjoy it. I find it disturbing to see how much of myself is in some of the "clients" for which Roark refuses to build homes. I envy both him and Dominique for their refusal to bend to ANY social more. Keating is still an ass.
